Celebrating 50 Years in Business
Power Leasing Limited was incorporated on 6 June 1976 and is now part of the WestWon group of companies. We proudly celebrate 50 years of providing business finance solutions to UK companies. Being associated with one of the longest‑established leasing introducers in the UK reflects the strength, heritage and credibility behind our business.
History of VAT in the UK
VAT was introduced by the Finance Act 1972 and came into effect on 1 April 1973, replacing the previous Purchase Tax system introduced in 1940. The original VAT rate started at 10%, rising to 17.5% in 1991, briefly reducing to 15% during the 2008–2009 financial crisis, and increasing to the current 20% rate in January 2011.
History of VAT Loans in the UK
VAT loans have been available in the UK since around 2000. In the early years, this type of finance was typically offered only to professional firms such as accountants, solicitors and architects. Over time, the VAT loan market has expanded significantly as lenders recognised the wider demand from businesses needing to manage their VAT payments more efficiently. Today, VAT loans are available to most types of UK companies across a broad range of industries. Our clients can be found in every county and city across the UK, operating in sectors including IT, marketing, media, estate agents, construction, scaffolding, training, recruitment, haulage, courier services, manufacturing, engineering and hospitality.
Access to Over 50 Finance Providers
As an introducer, we work with over 50 specialist lenders who provide VAT loans and other forms of business finance. One funder alone, we have worked with for 35 years. Each funder has different credit criteria, lending appetites and pricing structures. This broad network enables us to support a wide range of businesses—from small companies with only one employee to one of the UK’s largest privately owned businesses.
Our Team
Our team is the most important part of our success. While we continue to grow and welcome new employees, they are supported by experienced colleagues. Our CEO and Operations Manager have worked in business finance for more than 35 years. Many other team members have been with the company in excess of ten years. Through training, mentoring and teamwork, we ensure every client receives knowledgeable, professional and reliable service.
Our Values
At Tax Funding we operate with nine core values that guide everything we do. These values focus on teamwork, integrity, innovation and delivering exceptional outcomes for the clients we serve. We also prioritise the health, wellbeing and development of our team while building strong relationships with our lending partners.
Constant Investment and Growth
We continue to invest heavily in our business to ensure we provide the best possible service. In 2026 we expanded our client development team, invested in new IT infrastructure, enhanced our CRM system and strengthened our marketing activity. Continuous investment in technology and people allows us to improve efficiency and deliver faster funding solutions to our clients.
A Complete Rebrand in 2026
In March 2026 we launched a complete brand refresh and new website. Moving away from the previous WestWon brand styling, the new design introduces softer colours and a modern visual identity. The blue represents trust, clarity and financial stability, while the green symbolises growth, improvement and positive cash‑flow movement.
Working with Accountants
Many of our clients are introduced by UK accountants and accountancy practices. If you have been contacted by us, it may be part of our outreach to build new professional relationships. We work closely with accountants across the UK to help their clients manage VAT payments and improve cash flow through VAT loan solutions.
Financial Strength and Stability
With over two decades of trading, our business is built on strong financial foundations. Our long‑term approach focuses on stability, responsible lending introductions and building lasting relationships with both clients and funders.
Additional Business Finance Solutions
While VAT loans are our primary focus, we can also assist UK businesses with other types of finance, including Corporation Tax loans, self‑assessment tax loans, professional indemnity insurance loans and working capital finance.
