Why VAT Loans?
VAT Loans arranges VAT finance for UK limited companies, including accountancy practices, solicitors and companies across other sectors. VAT funding starts from £5,000, with no fixed maximum, subject to status, affordability and lender approval. Our largest VAT facility arranged to date is £15 million.
If approved, the lender normally pays HMRC directly and your company makes three monthly repayments to the lender, normally starting about a month later. Your written agreement confirms the dates and amounts. Confirm payment before treating the VAT bill as paid; an application does not extend your VAT deadline or remove charges already incurred.
Finance may help preserve working capital when repayments are affordable. Compare the total cost and repayment schedule with available cash, existing facilities and any HMRC payment arrangement.

Can my company apply for a VAT loan?
VAT Loans arranges VAT finance for UK limited companies. Your company will need to provide information about its VAT liability and demonstrate that the repayments are affordable. Availability and the final terms depend on the lender’s assessment.
If you trade as an individual, sole trader or partnership, this service is not designed for you. An accountant can help you assess other options for managing your VAT payment.
What should I have ready?
Start with your company name and registration number, the amount of VAT to be funded and the payment deadline. The lender may request the VAT return or liability details, company accounts, current management figures, bank statements and information about directors or authorised signatories. Requirements vary by application.
Read our VAT loan document checklist before applying. Send financial documents only through the secure method confirmed by the team.
Will I need a personal guarantee?
Ask the team to confirm the security and personal guarantee requirements for the proposed lender and facility. An unsecured loan does not automatically mean that no personal guarantee is required. If a guarantee is requested, understand what you would be responsible for before signing and take advice if necessary.
How much can I borrow and what will it cost?
Start with the funding gap, rather than automatically borrowing the full bill. Subtract the cash your company can safely use from the VAT liability, allowing for wages, suppliers and other commitments. The lender will decide whether the amount requested can be offered.
Use our VAT loan calculator for an indicative estimate. Before accepting finance, confirm the amount borrowed, each repayment and its date, all fees, the total amount repayable and the early-settlement terms. A calculator result is not a guaranteed offer.
When is HMRC paid?
The team will confirm the payment route, reference and expected timing during the application. Funding and payment depend on approval and completed documentation. Do not assume the bill has been paid until payment is confirmed; applying for finance does not extend your VAT deadline.
Is borrowing the right option?
A VAT loan may help with a temporary cash-flow gap when repayments are affordable. Compare it with using available cash, an existing facility and, where relevant, an HMRC Time to Pay arrangement. If you cannot afford the bill or further borrowing, read the immediate steps to take.
Next step: Estimate VAT finance repayments or call 01494 956 871 to discuss the company’s requirements. Finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval.
